The MP presents the following main geographic characteristics and natural factors in the region of Nessebar and particularly – of the peninsula, that are related to the formation, state and conditions for the preservation of its historic structures:

relief and specific morphology of the peninsula – altitude from 0 to 18 m above sea level; connection to the mainland through a narrow isthmus;

climate – moderate continental, strongly influenced by the Black Sea basin;

geological conditions: geolithological texture of territory; hydrologic characteristic; erosion and landslide processes, elapsed through the various historical periods; components of the environment (quality of the atmosphere; state of the surface waters; waste waters);
-
natural landscape (topographical characteristics, vegetation, characteristic features of the aquatory) and active current nature-protection regimes.
